Alan Morrison has been one of Britain's leading cornet soloists for many years. After serving as Principal Cornet player with the Grimethorpe Colliery Band between 1982 and 1995 he now holds a similar position with the Brighouse & Rastrick Band. He has produced 6 solo albums and an educational teaching video on the techniques of playing. A full discography with details on how to obtain these titles are available on the CD Recordings pages of this site. Over the years Alan has appeared as a soloist, adjudicator and conductor in all parts of the world and continues to be in great demand. Having spent a period of time concentrating on conducting, Alan then concentrated again on playing and became fully committed to the Brighouse & Rastrick Band although he still took on some conducting engagements, most notably with the Molde Band in Norway. In 2006 he was appointed Musical Director of the Brighouse & Rastrick Band and steered them to immediate success at the Yorkshire Area Championships in March 2007. This website is dedicated to the career of Alan Morrison and provides a historical record of his achievements and all of his connections over the years, from his first band in 1967 - The Cargo Fleet Works Junior Band to the present day.
