Natalie Morrison was born in September 1995 and started to play the cornet when she was 7. This page will chart her progress and bring news of her successes and direction.

2003
In November 2003 Natalie took her Associated Board Grade 1 Cornet Practical exam and passed with 126 marks and a good merit. An excellent start. 

2004
In February 2004 she passed her grade 1 Theory with Distinction and 96 marks. 

In June 2004, Natalie scored an amazing 138 marks to pass her Grade 2 Cornet Practical with a fantastic Distinction. 

In September 2004 she joined her first band, the Gawthorpe 85 Junior Band. 

In November she was promoted to the Youth Band and now plays for both having appeared in many concerts and competitions. 

In November 2004 she passed her grade 2 Theory with 97 Marks and another Distinction. 

2005
February 2005 saw Natalie take her Grade 3 Cornet Practical scoring an amazing 132 marks for another Distinction. 

First Solo Contest success - In April 2005 Natalie won her first competition, the Youth Section Gawthorpe 85 Band Solo Competition, playing 'Speed Your Journey', Chorus of The Hebrew Slaves from Nabucco by Verdi.

She's done it again!!!!!!! Natalie took her Associated Board Grade 4 Cornet in November 2005 scoring 137 marks and her 3rd Distinction on the trot.

Nats also auditioned to join the National Children`s  Band and not only passed the audition but has been invited to join the band on its Summer Course at Bromsgrove in July 2006. An invitation she has readily accepted and looks forward to taking her place in the band.

2006
Nat's passed her Grade 5 Cornet in June with 124 marks. This was an excellent result after a somewhat interrupted preparation for the exam.

July 2006 saw Natalie take her place in the National Childrens Band in Bromsgrove, following the success of her audition last year.

A busy time in July as Natalie also played Repiano Cornet with the Yorkshire Youth Brass Band that has twice taken part in concerts with Black Dyke Band this year.

In November 2006 Natalie passed her Grade 1 Piano examination

2007
Natalie continued her exam success by passing her Grade 4 Theory in March 2007.

Natalie was appointed Principal Cornet of Gawthorpe Junior Band in April and joined Kippax Band on the back row at the same time.

Natalie has now passed her Grade 5 Cornet and Grade 5 Theory allowing her to work towards Grade 6 Cornet in the near future.

In September 2007 she joined her Mum at the Kippax Band where she has already played at the National Finals in Harrogate and been featured several times as a soloist in concerts.

In December 2007 Natalie was awarded a Fame Academy Bursary and took delivery of a brand new cornet just before Christmas. Here is a picture of her in uniform with the new instrument.
